  1. Account for Introverts/Extroverts

As somebody in their fifties who has never found fulfilling work, the core problem was that the things i trained for did not account for the fact I am very introverted and cannot work happily with other people. The pressure (and hence my training) was directed at helping others to the exclusion of my own core personality and this caused me health issues and massive stress and has left me as a long term unemployed person in poverty, which I am sure isn't anybody's dream! Also please be aware that there are many bars to succeeding if your pursuit counters…

  3. Expand to France !

You should definitely expand your public to European countries, translate your research, and build partnerships with meaningful companies you might have identified.

  4. Hey guys have you thought about doing a problem profile on global financial stability? Existential risks of another world-wide recession?

  5. Congress can mandate labor union cert/recert elections at every private workplace

Biggest US neglected problem: 80% of US workforce are “price takers” not “price negotiators” — due to near total de-unionization (down to 6% in private economy).

Easy solution: our coming blue wave Congress needs to mandate union certification and re-certification elections at every private workplace; every one, three or five years, plurality rules on the latter.

Why Not Hold Union Representation Elections on a Regular Schedule? Andrew Strom — November 1st, 2017 https://onlabor.org/why-not-hold-union-representation-elections-on-a-regular-schedule/

  6. Target audience

So you're use of examples such as UK specifics are great for a UK citizen like myself, but your target audience can be a little off sometimes. It often seems as though you're focusing on people who already have large amounts of career capital and can move easily, or those who have significant earnings already, not those at the start of their careers. You often tout most people as earning $40,000 a year, this is pure nonsense for most graduates in the UK. A lot of us (i don't know the figures) end up in menial entry-level jobs, if we…

  7. Jobs board

Can you put in search filters for the jobs board? If I'm only interested in South or England based health/biorisk/development roles at a certain level then it would be great to regularly get emails or check for these in the same way that many other niche recruitment advertisers offer

  8. Native advertising

Hello! I am a Media Business Analyst at Qwertize and I noticed that you do not have native advertising. It brings additional quality content to your website that looks completely native to the configuration. It increases digital advertising revenues by attracting more viewers to your page!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

  9. Potential typo on https://80000hours.org/career-guide/introduction/

    In paragraph 3:

'To answer this question, we set up an independent non-profit and did over five years alongside Oxford academics. Our only aim is to help you have the greatest possible positive impact.'

You may have intended 'did over five years of research alongside...'

  10. Broken link

In this frequently cited article, https://80000hours.org/career-guide/reports/management-consulting/, the link "WetFeet guide to Management Consulting" is broken.

  13. Anthropology phd

Please consider doing an evaluation of pursuing a phd in anthropology and whether its recommended or not. What impacts and prospects it has in which areas.

  14. Prayer is a highly effective way to change our world. Research here is neglected. I so wish this was an area of consideration!

Fund highly effective prayer studies with input from people highly skilled in prayer along with scientists who are open-minded to creatively work with interfaith communities to design these studies. The impact of prayer on world problems is a needed area of study that needs funding--the most effective types of prayer especially. Your consideration is appreciated.

  15. Which ideas were considered but discarded?

Would love a list of "trashed" ideas, and reasons why they were trashed. It would also give us a fuller view of the careers already covered by 80,000 Hours.

  16. Problem profile on 1-6C climate change

There's a profile on tail risk of climate change, but it seems to me like the potential politically destabilising impact and many knock-on effects on global society of even 2 degree climate change is worth an appraisal. There's also the non-zero chance that even 2-4C degree climate change becomes unmanageable. Would you consider writing a profile on this topic please? Thanks

  17. Add 4Ocean, The Ocean Cleanup, and Ecosia to your list of high impact companies

Tackling the world's plastic problem should be treated as one of top priorities for the environment, our health and the whole planet. 4Ocean and The Ocean Cleanup are great companies which are both providing solutions in this area. And the environmental damage from deforestation is being addressed by Ecosia, and I believe these are all great companies to work for.

  18. EA careers that mesh well with parenthood. Profiles of people with high impact who were also raising kids.

There are a lot of parents (especially mothers) who take a career break or scale back on the hours worked in order to raise a family. How can these people go on to have a significant impact? Please profile people who had a large impact without neglecting their families. The first example that comes to mind is Jane Jacobs. What to do when the bottlenecks are limited time and career capital. Maybe talk about the role of volunteering in building civic society and the backbone of communities, the role of volunteering vs paid work.

  19. Community College and Degree Reviews

    Hello 80,000 Hours,

I'm Jacob. I am a community college student who constantly reads through your works to help myself decided on my educational outputs and career ideas. I wanted to make two suggestions.

One, could 80,000 post a review on community college in their blog? The pros, cons, and 80,000 Hours overall thoughts on community college?

Also, much like how you all have a career review page could you have a degree review page? Instead of listing out jobs it would list different BA degrees (English, Business, etc.) MA degrees, and PHDS? I know the career reviews has some…

It's easy to solve most health problems. For instance, colloidal silver can eliminate virtually a ALL bacterial and viral diseases. Other diseases are easily solved at low cost. See the book "Extraordinary Healthcare." Visit the site RebuildHealth.com Read the blog.
